Updating Xiaomi Mi Router 4AC after OpenWRTInvasion - how?

I ordered a Xiaomi Mi Router 4A 100M and got a Mi Router 4AC 100M (NOT gigabit) .

After several days of bricking, reflashing, down grading the firmware, installing virtual box and ubuntu and following @hoddy tutorials, I finally got to telnet into it and installed this version (@zorro I think):
OpenWrt 19.07.2 r10947-65030d81f3 / LuCI openwrt-19.07 branch git-20.057.55219-13dd17f

Phew

Now it seems to work fine --I can use the luci interface to make changes see stats etc.

I could not find an answer in the 1000 message long forum post on the 4A/gigabit. And I spent a lot of time trying. And learning a vast amount.

I see there is a version 21.02.02 available for the Mi Router 4A (not 4AC) on the openwrt downloads page:
https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.2/targets/ramips/mt76x8/openwrt-21.02.2-ramips-mt76x8-xiaomi_mi-router-4a-100m-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

will that work on my Mi R4AC 100M? I am assuming so because it has the same "mt76x8"

If it will work, should I update via Luci or should I still use openwrtInvasion and Telnet/Curl to install the update?

Thanks

It's never a good idea to install firmware for another router.

You run the risk of bricking it permanently.

Why not return it and get the router you ordered?

fyi, the photo of the rear of the R4A in the wiki page actually quotes 'Mi Router 4A', model: R4AC

True - but over in the developers sections there is mention of differences. Thanks.

As does the DeviWiki info -

Looks like this thread has been cross-posted in the Developer forum -

Based on these and @Boromini over in developers, I held my breathe and upgraded to the latest xiaomi mi4a 21.02.2 sysupgrade.bin. And voila - it worked.

Thanks
