Two wifi AP : with and without Openvpn connecion

Hi all,
I have configured openvpn in my router, and everything is working fine. But today I wanted to start a wifi AP which will route internet without vpn connection.

so far i have tried creating new lan and adding new firewall forwaded to wan. But it doesn't seem to work.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on your topology, you may need to make other modifications.

Can you draw a diagram of your network and show us how the devices are connected to each other and to the internet? Indicate which is the main router and which one is running the OpenVPN connection. From there, I'm sure there will be additional questions, but this will help start the discussion.

Ok... so it looks like the OpenWrt router "AP2" should operate as a dumb AP. "AP1" need to be a different SSID and a different network that is routed using the OpenVPN connection.

oh... I see that this OpenWrt router is wirelessly connected to the main router. That might present some challenges.

Are you expecting the non-VPN'd wifi network to be in the same subnet as the main router? That will be considerably more complicated than simply making both networks routed.

Sorry, I am very new to this. I don't understand the terminology fully.
What I want is if i will connect my non vpn wifi, i get access to internet without vpn connection.
I am doing this because i want to extend the range of my main router and also have vpn connection.

You've got lots of issues, I'll try to address them:

First, don't use a massive network /8 for your lan. Change it to a /24. Remvoe the DNS and the ip6class. Your lan should look like this:

Your NoVPN network needs an address, and it must not be defined as a bridge in the network interface stanza (you need to do that in a special stanza. It should look like this:

My config after uggested changes. Now I am able to connect to my new wifi. But it is still serving vpn connection. Thanks.

Right. Policy based routing is the remaining item. You’ll use it to specify that the lan should use the vpn and the novpn network should not.

Thanks. I am still reading their documentation about adding policies. But I am not able to figure it out.

I’m not an expert on pbr. But there should be some examples on the forum if you do a search.
