Trouble with DHCP and DNS on Kimax U35WF as NAS connected with a router via ethernet and static address

Good afternoon everyone,

I hav stumbled through installing OpenWRT ver 23.5.3 on Kimax BS-U35WF. I think I have a handle on everything except DHCP and DNS. I am using the Kimax as a NAS connected to a router via static DHCP address. I have access to the internet and steady access to the NAS. Router is 192.168.1.1. NAS is 192.168.2.1. However, I recieve errors when trying to update software and download packages required to upgrade USB and SAMBA.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I cannot ping any address.

Not the same subnet ?

And if you set a static IP, you need to provide DNS and GW IPs too.

There is no response to SSH.

Is there a reference to connect the router to a WAN and use the router on the WAN for DHCP…

I’m using MacBook Pro and attempting SSH via HTTPS…

So the 192.168.2.1 was a typo ?

We can see here that the address on this device is 192.168.1.2 (not 192.168.2.1 as previously mentioned).

You need to add a gateway and dns and then it should work Edit the lan interface so that it looks like this:

Do not use psk-mixed. Use wpa2 (psk2) instead.

I assume that your upstream router is acting as the DHCP server. If that is true, you must disable the DHCP server on the OpenWrt device. Edit the lan dhcp server to look like this:

Restart after making these changes and then test again.

I deleted the separate WLAN interface and changed to IP back to DHCP Client and moved the static IP address assigned from the router to the same subnet.
