"tri band" (triple interface) router list

FYI, i fixed the problem with the Linksys WHW03 V2 port that restricted the 5 GHz channel ranges of that device. more info in the OP.

Thanks for creating this list. I wish it were easier to just query the Table Of Hardware for such devices, but due to the underlying data structure, it is not, even when using the CSV download. I created a thread to discuss this issue. Please comment there with your thoughts.

However, I've found a workaround.

Using the TechInfoDepot Wiki to do a semantic search ends up being a pretty good way to find tri-band devices that work with OpenWrt.

For example here is a custom query for tri-band devices that have some form of OpenWrt support and are 802.11 AX devices. Or here is one for all tri-band OpenWrt devices (there are 41 currently listed)

You can customize the query and output columns using Semantic MediaWiki query language.

Also, wikidevi.wi-cat.ru does support semantic search, but it's not quite as good of an underlying data structure, and the set of devices is a bit smaller than TechInfoDepot Wiki

That site does have a dedicated page listing Tri-Band devices, but if you look at the source code for it, it is using a set of hard-coded queries for combinations of specific wifi chips known to have multiple radios, which I've found is not comprehensive since obviously new chips are made over time, plus not every single device matching those queries is actually Tri-Band due to reasons I haven't looked at in detail. Could be query issues or could be some manufacturers not actually using the Multi-Band capabilities of a chip.

thanks for the info and these queries!

could you maybe try your hand at one for openwrt devices that support 6 GHz? and one for wifi 7?

thanks again.

Here is one for tri-band devices that have some form of OpenWrt support and are 802.11be (Wifi 7) devices. Currently only 1, vs 14 total such devices if you omit OpenWrt support.

There doesn't seem to be a reliable way to query for 6 Ghz right now, but I am working with that site's admins to see if we can add semantic query support for this, which should be very easy if they allow it.

Also FYI the TechInfoDepot Wiki has its own category page listing "Triple-Radio Wireless Embedded Systems", which seems fairly comprehensive, but is just a list and not a table showing attributes. And it would include non-routers like pure access points and such.

the MX4300/LN1301 was recently added - https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/16070

the MX5300 2-pack (rfb) is now $50 at Amazon.

thanks!

amazon search is a huge PoS. the results are incredibly bogus for any search string. could you provide a link to that?

Mercusys MR90X show that it's a triband router but with double 5Ghz capability

Tri -Band (2.4 & 2x 5GHz).

Although I am not sure if OpenWrt can utilize the 2x5Ghz.

https://www.mercusys.com/en/product/details/mr90x/

Where did it mention 2 x 5GHz radio? I only see 8T8R there, it's still single radio on 5GHz

It is 4x4 + 4x4. 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Adtran SDG 8733 AP contains a 4x4 tri-band tri-concurrent MTK 7996 WiFi chipset.

Asus BT8 support is on it's way:

Might want to post it in the tri band thread.
