TP-Link vs OpenWRT

So TP-Link routers have been accused of having CCP-motivated backdoors.

One might assume flashing OpenWRT might remove such a backdoor. One might also assume that such a backdoor could persist by some hardware mechanism.

As someone with a Broadcom-based TP-Link router which I was always slightly leery of, I now am interested in replacing it.

Please post output of

ubus call system board

from your OpenWRT device.

How much improvement in your Wi-Fi do you see with that tinfoil hat on?

If I am informed correctly, it is aimed at TP-Link's software and lacking updates/support, which leads to their competitive pricing. Not at the hardware-level build process itself. Therefor using OpenWrt on a TP-Link router circumvents the security issues (possibly) present when using the OEM-software with unfullfiling support.
