TP-Link AX-23 no wan connectivity

Hi, I just installed openwrt on my TP-link AX-23 as described here https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_ax23_v1
I set up my ISP connection with a static IP, gateway, and netmask. However, I cannot ping the gateway, which is directly on the other side of the UTP cable. With the stock firmware or when connecting other computers directly to the cable, it works fine.

As a result, I don’t have an internet connection with OpenWRT. Digging deeper, I found that OpenWRT is not able to get the ARP response from the gateway. If I ping from another computer, I can see the MAC and IP address of the gateway, but not with OpenWRT. I tried using arp -s, but it didn’t help. I’m not sure if this is related to the ping issue.

I’ve tested versions 23.05.0, 24.10-rc4, and the latest 22.x version. They all behave the same way.

Thank you for any help!
Pavel

What is upstream of your AX-23? Is it a modem/ont only, or is it a combo unit that also contains a router? And if there is a router in the unit, is it in normal routing mode or has that been disabled such that the device is in bridge mode?

Are these connection parameters that have been provided by the ISP?

What IP address are those computers issued?

let's take a look at your configuration:

Please connect to your OpenWrt device using ssh and copy the output of the following commands and post it here using the "Preformatted text </> " button:
grafik
Remember to redact passwords, MAC addresses and any public IP addresses you may have:

ubus call system board
cat /etc/config/network
cat /etc/config/wireless
cat /etc/config/dhcp
cat /etc/config/firewall

Thank you for your response! Here is more information about my setup and the requested outputs.

  • Upstream Device:
  • The AX-23 is connected directly to my ISP-provided device, which is i believe a simple modem.
  • Connection Parameters:
  • Yes, the static IP, gateway, and netmask were provided by my ISP.
  • Direct Cable Connection:

Basically all I do is

ifconfig wan 10.13.136.110 netmask 255.255.255.0
ping 10.13.136.1

on computer directly connected to wire it works, on openwrt ax-23 it is not.

  • Requested Configurations:
  • Below are the outputs from the OpenWRT device (clean instalation of openwrt without changes other than the wan ip):
