it's generic, non openwrt specific, use fdisk + mkfs, unless you mean inside the squashfs.
nothing, if they're not stored in the squashfs, you will however still need to reinstall them.
probably need to set it up as in https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/additional-software/extroot_configuration
(try adding some air into your mass of text, it's barely readable).
install newer release, usually.
yes, there are some occasions when a package should be updated, but they are rare.
if it's a must for you, then yes ...
since we're talking squashfs, then I'd assume they'll be wiped.
for reinstalling the packages yes, but not for extending the squashfs, I don't think it's capable of doing it.
