Thank you for sharing your expensive work. I also have a 4/32 device, which is TL-WR845N_V4. I want to try to build an image file for the last several days. But can not succeed. Every time an error comes, "[mktplinkfw2] *** error: kernel image is too big".

Can you help me to build the image for my device?
You can share your config with me to build my image.

I tried to 21.02

hi all I can help you with is to take my config from https://maurerr.github.io/openwrt-21.02-rt305x-4M/config.buildinfo and rebuild 21.02

When I commend 'make' It says old config. Please update the config with the latest code. My device code is ramips_mt76x8 or ramips_mt7628 and my model is "TL-WR845n-v4".

you're highlighting some keywords like update/config like this is a paid support service
do remember we're all volunteers here with no obligation to provide anything

Of course, you are not obligated to help me. Can I ask you, Are you using any help from other people on this platform?

If you help me, I and other people will be thankful to you.

Many users come here to find TL-WR845n-v4 device Firmware. No man builds firmware for this device. If you help to build the image, it helps other people. I will share the image file here openly.

Thanks in advance and Good wishes to you.

tbh - i would have helped you if you didn't used that highlighted font
maybe next time

I did not know you did not like highlight font. I will never use it future. I apologize for that. And I removed all of the highlighted fonts for you.

Hope to get help from you now. :orange_heart:

Sorry for my bad English. :cold_sweat:
I did not find any firmware for my device.

You didn't look hard enough

There is one here (google how to register on 4pda)

I see it. Speed issue has this firmware. That's why I want to try openwrt.

What do you expect from a 575 MHz mips 24Kc single core, 4/32 device with 100 MBit/s ethernet ports and crappy (rt2x00) wireless, speed it can't be?

It speeds down to 1-2 Mbps after a couple of hours running.

Is there any commit adding official support for your device in openwrt git?

Unfortunately, No.

This GitHub repository has all support files.
https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Athuylamba%2FTL-WR845N_V4%20wr845&type=code

Hope it helps to build the image.

No it's not. I really can't help you.
That repo has commits for a device with 8mb flash and yours is 4mb only.
Good luck!

My advice - use this time you're wasting right now trying to get a firmware for a forgotten device to make some money and buy yourself a different supported router.
You'll be much happier

This https://www.dropbox.com/s/txo4scftqn5369c/openwrt_21.02_tlwr841nv14.zip?dl=1 image file is working perfectly on my TL-WR845n-v4 :grinning:. But one problem here is no 'PPPoE'. Can it possible to add PPPoE here?

I am not sure what is the purpose of this thread. In my point of view, I would close this and here are the reasons for it:

  • It looks like you do have a device, which can be described as old or rather as a zombie. Why would you resurrect a zombie at all? Because of the fantasy or in the books? That works.

Keep in mind that your device (router, etc.) is connected to the Internet 24/7. It does most of the things for you like fridge, freezer. They do have some power efficiency over time, which decreases and they will be replaced in the future because you will miss some features, which have modern things.

We are in the 21st century, it does not make sense to have an outdated operating system on your device, which is vulnerable to so many things. Keep your device and devices in your network secured. A new device might cost 20-30 bucks. That's not much. You will avoid one dinner in the restaurant or a few beers there.

On the other hand, you will be able to use modern Wi-Fi standards, get regular updates and so on.

Back to the thread:

  • We don't know which sources you are using
    • No sources to check it out
  • It can end/die anytime without support
    • Support is paid. Why? Users can already buy a new router and avoid buying such service.

Yeah let's close this thread

Help me to give some information. I have a snapshot, and it working nicely. There is only one problem: no PPPoE. Here, the software install option is enabled. Now 94KB is remaining. I don't know which packages are not mandatory to use OpenWrt. I want to install PPPoE and use it. I sent the all package list that is installed here. Please give me the list of which I will remove and which package I will install to use PPPoE.
