For home use, I need a cheap and small 2.5GbE managed switch with 4 (max. 5) 2.5Gb ports, where I can configure VLANs and connect to my main router via 2.5Gbps link, something like:
The most interesting option for me is the TP-Link TL-SE2106, but I would be fine with any no-name brand as long as it might potentially be supported by OpenWrt firmware and has a small size (not a 8+ ports version).
So, is there OpenWrt support for any 2.5Gb managed switch on Realtek RTL837x with a small number of ports and non-PoE?
Tried.
There, the 2.5Gb ports are only available on the large-sized Zyxel XGS1250-12 with the RTL9302B.
Actually, I wasn't able to find any information about OpenWrt support for the RTL837x in the OpenWrt forum. I found only this information:
RTL837x series
Lightweight managed, or unmanaged switch chips.):
RTL8370 series
These chips have the following features:
8051 CPU core
8-port Gigabit switch with embedded PHYs
Since the software has an 8051 CPU, they are not useful for running Linux.
The 8051 core can be disabled for running in unmanaged mode.
rtl8372/rtl8373 isn't going to happen with openwrt. From my google search I think it's an 8051 micro controller core?
I don't have a datasheet to confirm, but the block diagram I found features hooking up an application processor to the 10G port and talking to it over mdio/i2c?
