Support for more bcm63xx SoC's?

The bcm63xx target supports a few relatively old SoC's and devices. Newer SoC's exist, e.g. the 1.5Ghz dual-core BCM63178. Is there any possibility of these newer SoC's being supported in the future? I know that some of these variants support 802.11ax, which is a different discussion altogether. Same as the DSL and FXS ports, which are unlikely to ever be supported. Just interested in basic (wired) support for now.

It looks like the BCM63178 is not supported upstream by the linux kernel: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/tree/master/arch/mips/boot/dts/brcm

As such, Support in Openwrt seems unlikely until there is a mainline linux kernel for this SOC.
