Suggestion for LuCI

I've an idea!
In the Overview page, ports section, having the ability to give a name to each port.
Per example, LAN2 could be Linux PC or Ubuntu Laptop! So an optional field just underneath that user can put information like that can be great! Image on my router 8 LAN port, I can forgot which cable going where...
Just an idea...

Either use pen&paper, or dedicated software for that, like https://github.com/netbox-community/netbox ?

Pen and paper, what is that? I know there's software like Netbox or LibreNMS that can do that, but if I don't want to design all networks on a different software and they don't auto discovery..

Anyway, if my idea is bad ok, just trying to improve LuCI that's it...

It's the other way. You use an ipam to design a network and then use i.e. automatic config generation you push on the devices.
Or just use the ipam for planing and then do your config.

I just wanted to say the web config panel is maybe a bad fit because it's breaks the moment when you have multiple network devices. A router, one or two switches and a couple of AP are not that uncommon even in private households.

I know phpIPAM and it's a very good and powerful with MariaDB program.

And yes many houses have more than just one router or switch. But, as I mention, just an idea not a debate...
