Status of the snmp and mini-snmp packages

there are two the two packages "snmp" and "mini-snmp".

I hardly find any documentation. Are the packages still being maintained?

I have problems with both packages:
"snmp": I change the WiFi interface numbers after changing the key
"mini-snmp": only 4 interfaces are possible. In addition, according to the documentation, the counts overflow to 32bit.

Indexes change on Interface reloads. A fresh reboot will present the clean indexes for your config.

As I recall, mini_snmpd only uses 32-bit counters, so is pretty much useless for many applications. Worth re-checking as I haven't looked in a year or more.

I looked into SNMP not long ago and found that mini-snmp wasn't all that "mini" and that it only supported 32-bit counters (not terribly useful in this era, in my opinion). Both that and snmpd require libnetsnmp which is around 370 kB plus a couple other dependencies. I'd look into seeing if a custom-built image could bring the installed-flash space down as the ROM uses xz compression, last I checked. Difference between snmpd and mini snmpd?

At least according to what I've read, the "mini" version also only supports 32-bit counters, so today's traffic rates overflow them relatively quickly.

thats the point. For the daily wlan-key (guest-wlan) a reload run every night.
(uci commit; /etc/init.d/network reload).

I'm lost, are you saying that you re-key your interface every 24 hours?

That technically is an interface reconfig.

• Restarting snmpd may work; but the uptime changes
