Someone with broadcom chipset?

I need someone with broadcom chipset client. I need to test 2 patch that enable the non standard QAM-256 on 2.4 ghz by enabling VHT IN 2.4 wireless... Anyone?

Shouldn’t you at least tell us which Broadcom chipset??

Looks like 43xx and upper supports this
Also the patch is specific for ath10k

Like BCM4306, BCM4311, BCM4312, BCM4318 (all 802.11g only chipsets)? Really, be more specific.

So the patches are for ath10k, but the SoC is Broadcom? Not saying it can’t happen, but I feel it’s a strange combination. Which device are we talking about??

Seems like Broadcom SoC and Atheros USB/maybe pcie WiFi?

the patch enable vht for 2.4 ghz wifi

this should add support for qam-256 that should give better rate in 2.4 wifi

I need broadcom client as it looks like they use this non standard use of vht (that should be enabled only for 5ghz)

So you are not sure about the patch, you didn’t make it and you need it one maybe Broadcom chipset for maybe an atheros WiFi??

Good story!!

???? dude what are you talking about?

in 2016 vht for 2.4 was enabled to support this specific thing... (that is not standard) , then they decide to disable this as it use non standard implementation of that...
I made a patch to renable this and i need a boradcom client (that for sure support this non standard way) to actually test if it does get a better rate... if yes then i will make a pr....

Stock firmware have this already as they advertise this as TURBOQAM

from this site...

The Broadcom have a technology called TurboQAM, It can use 256QAM on 40Mhz for 802.11n, like Index 9 above.

The patch works but i don't have any device that supports it...

Why didn't you start with this information? It makes a much more credible request and it shows what you need and why.

With this additional information (and possibly a reference to where we can review your patch), people are more able and willing to give you the support you need.

Anyway, I'm still confused about the ath10k reference. You mean that you patched the code for the ath10k similar to the Broadcom "TurboQAM" ??

TurboQAM just use vht rates in 2.4 ghz, so if you have enough signal, a supported broadcom signal will notice that that wifi support VHT and start use the new rate.

This can be archived by any driver as you need (in theory) to just send the information that 2.4 ghz supports vht.

You need 2 patch one for mac80211 and one for the driver... here the commit
