Is it recommended to upgrade the software packages in updates? I'm currently using Archer C7 v5, used to have ddwrt problems all the time when it came to this. Openwrt fixed everything no problems whatsoever. One hand its a security issue not updating and the other bugs

You may want to upgrade specific packages listed in the security advisories if those aren't already included in the current firmware version running on your router.
