Is it possible to simulate a PPPoE type connection to test the functionality of OpenWrt?
If so, what type of equipment or software is needed?

Thanks. I think that has given me what I needed to know.
Looks like there's an rp-pppoe-server package in OpenWrt repo as well.
Quick google shows a few people trying with not much success though...
