Version OpenWrt 21.02.1 r16325-88151b8303 on Netgear R8000 (BCM4709) shows Signal as zero or --- in all Signal/Noise values. I've been using OpenWRT on same R8000 for many years and prior to 21.02.1, S/N always showed non-zero values in S/N values.
Snapshot, or release version?
It's the release version.
Apologies for not reporting this earlier.
SSH in and run the following...
ubus call system board; \
uci export network; uci export wireless; \
uci export dhcp; uci export firewall; \
head -n -0 /etc/firewall.user; \
ip -4 addr ; ip -4 ro li tab all ; ip -4 ru; \
ip -6 addr ; ip -6 ro li tab all ; ip -6 ru; \
ls -l /etc/resolv.* /tmp/resolv.* /tmp/resolv.*/* ; head -n -0 /etc/resolv.* /tmp/resolv.* /tmp/resolv.*/*
Note: Redact any passwords, MAC addresses, and your public IP.
Post the results in preformatted text, by using the icon highlighted in red...
What version did you upgrade from?
Upgraded from openwrt-21.02.0-bcm53xx-generic-netgear_r8000
Thanks for the response.
It will take some time for me to redact and otherwise check/change the approx. 1200 lines of config requested - the entire firewall/SNAT/DNAT/Internal networks/custom rules/etc.
brcmfmac is a fullmac driver, meaning it does pretty much all of the connection handling in firmware without telling the kernel much about it. It's quite possible that driver/ firmware simply don't report these statistics back to the kernel.
Indeed it is possible these have changed since previous release, and have simply stopped reporting the statistics to the kernel. This would cause the statistics to be not shown, if it were the reason.
For this test:
Upgraded to 21.02.2 with a device reset beforehand.
openwrt-21.02.2-bcm53xx-generic-netgear_r8000-squashfs.chk
Only a single radio configured for this run, on SSID OpenWrt.
Mobile phone connected to the wifi channel.
Sig/Noise indicators show same as previous screen-cap.
