Hey,
i have a very nice canon printer with scan function that only supports NT1 Samba protocol.
Can i allow in OpenWRT just for one share that is just used by the printer the NT1 Protocol and the other Shares should use the min-protocol SMB2 or 3?
or can i bind one samba instance to the vlan where the printer is located with NT1 and another samba instance for main main-vlan with SMB2?
Thanks
If the printer/scanner has samba embeded, than it has an eth port. Why don't you directly plug it into the switch? There is no need to involve the router.
The scanner is connected through WiFi and i also want to use Samba Server in the Openwrt Router. I have a r7800 with a SSD connected .
Agreed.
Have you checked for a firmware update for the scanner?
There is No newer Firmware fkr the Canon mb5450 ... I checked.
But i discovered a possibility with a Special Canon Software to directly Trigger the scan from the PC so that a Samba Server is Not needed. I will try this First ... When this Works i deacrivate Samba in the printer
update: the software IJ Scan Utility was installed within the big software package from canon for Windows 11. very nice. the scan results are even better (the software supports ocr so that the pdf is searcheable, its automatic rotaed ...)
so i can switch off the old NT1 protocol
