Rootfs anomaly after upgrading firmware

Hello there;

I followed the instructions as in https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/extroot
All was good until I upgraded to 18.0.6; I now get:

root@Confusion:/rom/home/itunes# df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 2304 2304 0 100% /rom/rom
tmpfs 255964 6592 249372 3% /tmp
/dev/sda1 10255636 196324 9518640 2% /rom/overlay
overlayfs:/overlay 10255636 196324 9518640 2% /rom

/dev/sda1 10255636 196324 9518640 2% /rom/mnt/sda1
/dev/sda1 10255636 196324 9518640 2% /overlay
overlayfs:/overlay 10255636 196324 9518640 2% /

when booting.
How can I get rid of the "/rom/"

Also, after the upgrade, I cannot find sdb on usb. sad is running on usb3.
