Recommended router for 7k+ clients & WPA3?

Which router would be recommended for hosting at least 7 thousand clients 24/7, supports WPA3, and supports at least WiFi 6 (6e or 7 would be best)?

I wouldn’t recommend any single device for this task…

You need a separate wired router that can handle that kind of load (almost certainly x86), and you need many access points to distribute the clients.

The APs you’ll need depend very highly on the density of the client devices. If you’re talking about places like a stadium or a very large house-of-worship, you need APs that can handle very high density situations. If you’re talking about a school/university, hotels, or business where people are considerably more spread out, you’ll be talking about a large number of smaller capacity APs (such as one per classroom or similar).

Ubiquiti makes some APs that might serve the need… like the UAP-AC-SHD (although this is wifi 5) which can handle 1000 client devices, or the U6 Professional (Wifi 6) which can handle 350 clients.

A network of this size and scale needs to be very carefully architected or it will grind to a halt due to broadcast and multicast traffic among other things. Also, at that scale, you need to have appropriate security measures in place for both your devices/infrastructure and the client devices. You’ll need at least one (but preferably more than one) high bandwidth internet (>1G) uplink, and you’ll need professional/enterprise level switches), If you haven’t deployed very large networks before, be ready for a serious learning curve.

It's just to serve as a Tor middle node. According to the site linked in this video, a single router or server may do. (7:39) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBnJRraXDc0.

Maybe I am misinterpreting what you’re trying to do.

How many devices will connect to the wifi system?

1-7 physical devices but one would serve as a relay for 7k+ devices from the internet. This would be running on a home network.

Ok. Well any device can handle the local load. I don’t know about how things work with tor when it comes to performance requirements.

Will do. I'll have to see if my current router can handle it. Thanks for the info
