Greetings, Noob here.

When I try and type in wifi at the command line, I'm getting br lan port entered disabled state, wlan0 entered and left promiscous mode, and port 2(wlan0) entered disabled state.

Any assistance would be helpful.

I did check for OpenWRT on my phone, but did not see it

Openwrt has WiFi disabled by default.

I don't understand your question. You said that you are not getting wifi from your Pi -- did you follow the directions to enable wifi on OpenWrt?
