R6260 [Beginner] Installation

Does the problem persist after you reinstall LuCI?

They do. Firmware is ramips/mt7621 and package architecture is mipsel_24kc. So that's not the issue.

Ugh!! Now the install of luci doesn't want to work at all. I did a:

It's not an error I've seen myself before, but it might be worth a shot to sysupgrade your installation (so install the latest available snapshot, with the sysupgrade command) and then try reinstalling luci.

Even easier would be the image builder:

That way, you can flash an image that already has LuCI included.

I appreciate that, but if I am having trouble with just these simple steps I am pretty confident that building an image would be a tall climb.

I don't even know what you mean by sending the sysupgrade command.

Actually building that image is easier than piecing it all together. Snapshot images get rebuilt every few days and that means your older image might not match certain packages anymore (although that should only apply to kernel modules, from what I know).

The image builder is a bit more work up front, but once you have that you can just flash a new image every time and not bother with reinstalling packages or adding LuCI every time.

Thank you for all of your help! But what you're explaining is going to involve the same challenges, or significantly more, as just flashing with a pre built image - right?
Wouldn't I have to find and locate the packages and the files, find the versions and where they are hosted, through trial and error discover whether they are outdated or not, etc. just as I ran into with the snapshot?

No. The image builder does that for you. Read through the link, so you can see how it works.

you can try
https://chef.libremesh.org/?version=SNAPSHOT&target=ramips%2Fmt7621&id=netgear_r6260

click on customize: enter "luci" and click on request build.
after a while you can download the sysupgrade image including luci and all dependencis.

Thank you @rossini - you are the savior of my upcoming weekend. I will be sure to lift a glass to you. That image builder link worked perfectly!

Thanks to everyone on this thread for your help aslo!
