I'm interested in purchasing one of those devices from Ebay, since from my research and the database of supported devices, it seems to be a great candidate for replacing my current router.
Is the device easy to flash and doesn't need any custom steps like opening it up or soldering anything? (Just making sure because I don't have those skills beyond the usual sysadmin)
Does the device support DFS? My region doesn't allow for using some bands unless the device supports DFS, e.g. bands 52 54 56 60, so hoping somebody with the device can answer, I couldn't find information online.
It’s very easy to flash, the unit has two boot partitions from factory and the instructions from wiki is pretty clear and easy to follow.
It has two 5G and I only use 5G-1, which does support DFS, and I recommend using the build from Openwrt NSS compiled by lorenzo, I have been using his build for two years and it’s very stable.
Is it the same installation process for the homewrk variant? I believe it's basically the same as the MX4300 as far as I could see if the supported hardware table.
I briefly looked into getting one of these too. Be aware that the HomeWRK is effectively the MX4301 and it looks like the installation process is not at all the same.
