One device could be enough, but you might have to make sure they use the same fw for the power line part.
Wouldnt hurt doing both? As I want VLANs and Trunks etc.
Also when adding the button script, the pair button still does not work?

I'd do both, but that's me.
No idea about the button, I don't own the device.
The only issue is, there is NO way to factory reset the other unit, there is no reset pin and I cannot find the IP address.
Its a TL-PA8010P and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to login to the unit!
If I could flash it, im sure id be away laughing!
The TL-PA8010P is a simple layer 2 Wired-Ethernet-to-PLC bridge, it is not a complex router or Linux based etc. No custom firmware is needed on it.
You can configure it using TPLink tpPLC Utility.
