Question about Beamforming Settings

Hello,

I have a NETGEAR RBR50 v1. On the original OEM firmware, it had options for Explicit and Implicit Beamforming.

I was looking through the OpenWrt wireless options on the wiki and noticed the following settings:

- "su_beamformer"
- "su_beamformee"
- "mu_beamformer"
- "mu_beamformee"

Could someone explain what each of these settings does in simple terms? Also are they beneficial to enable on the RBR50, or is it better to leave them at their default values?

Thanks!

The Device's I got at Home
All are 4G not 5G and WiFi 5 Capable except Huawei
Pixel 4 XL
Infinix NOTE 40
Infinix NOTE 8
Infinix HOT 50 Pro
Huawei Y7 Prime 2018

OpenWrt has beamforming, which is called explicit beamforming on stock firmware, on by default if the Wi-Fi driver supports it.
No need to change settings.

SU: Single user
MU: Multi-user

Beamformer: sending directed, focused signal
Beamformee: receive

Oh so I don't need to enable it explicitly but what if I what to check if it supports it or not?

Also if I do wanted to add them which one to use su or mu?

check /var/run/hostapd-phy*.conf
It should be in the vht_capab
