Quectel QCM (Quectel_qconnectmanager)

Quectel gave me source code for their quectel qcm package. i hope someone can compile the code for easy package download.

maybe i'll work better than modemmanager

You don't really need any of these. Switch the modem to MBIM (if supported and not broken) and follow instructions
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wan/wwan/ltedongle

Don't forget to remove ModemManager.

i just wonder if it is as good as any other package like luci-proto-qmi/mbim or modemmanager. and yes i know how to install those protocols.

If you cannot make OpenWRT to work you can try to inspect fork oriented to mobile networks https://ofmodemsandmen.com/firmware.html and try to bring back their automatic configuration using luci-proto- packages.

Nah ill pass Rooter firmware. Itll break modules. Notice how it makes them heatup with the constant debugging of the module. Anyways ecm works for me or 1.22 modem manager so nevermind

If you're curious with quectel-cm, there is a package already available (luci-proto-quectel) in ImmortalWrt (OpenWrt fork)

One good advantage of this protocol is if you pair it with the Quectel proprietary driver qmi_wwan_q and a router with Qualcomm NSS (Proprietary Hardware Acceleration), the wwan traffic can be offloaded by NSS. Although these stuff may never be officially supported in OpenWRT.

You cannot send serial commands while that is working.
