Problems Hosting Minecraft Server from home

TUFAX4200 is my router, running the latest openwrt firmware.

Im hosting a minecraft java server from home.

When i host while my VPN is enabled, i can see in the server console that server-plugins are fetching new versions for download.

When i host while VPN is disabled, i see in console that server-plugins report problems “could not connect to update server”.

I contacted my ISP but they said they don’t block anything.

Checked my firewall over and over, nothing is blocked there.

My last asumption is that openwrt blocks something.

Honestly i’m running out of ideas what could it be.

Any help?

Does your MC server know the internet route changed, when VPN went down ?

Did you do the probably required port forward(s) to the server?

Please connect to your OpenWrt device using ssh and copy the output of the following commands and post it here using the "Preformatted text </> " button:
grafik
Remember to redact passwords, MAC addresses and any public IP addresses you may have:

ubus call system board
cat /etc/config/network
: cat /etc/config/wireless
cat /etc/config/dhcp
cat /etc/config/firewall

The VPN didn’t went down. I rebooted the pc without even enabling the vpn, and also tried enabling and disabling it while system was running.

@Bartvz
I did create a firewall exception for port 25565

i dont have SSH on any device, but i can login to the router GUI with credentials.
here are some screenshots:

You do not need to rewrite destination port as it is same.

Your VPN is absent from firewall zone thus redirect does not apply to it.

As i said nothing is blocked in firewall.
Not on the desktop host.
I dont know about openwrts default config.

I gave a friend of mine the server IP (he’s familiar with linux) and asked if he could try to hack in the server, after all he knows which OS the host has, he knows the servers IP and which router software is in place, and which port is open, 25565.

So far he responded this:
Did you detect any strange connections on your router/firewall btw? i managed to grab the make and model of your asus router earlier lol gonna test some more stuff later to see if there's any security holes

Every OS I’m aware of has SSH built in so you should be able to get those outputs just saying.

luci-app-ttyd too

PS C:\Windows\system32> ssh root@192.168.1.1

I dont have SSH installed, are you unable to assist when i don’t have it?
If really necessary i can get it.

Install it, it is in “windows components”

Huh? What ancient version of Windows do you have? It’s been in Win10/Win11 for half a decade or more.

Is the official ssh client the first entry?

I dont know how to use putty and it doesnt work in cmd either

i used a debloat and privacy script with 6000 lines of code, it removed SSH

"Tablet Labs" doesn't sound very official to me, the name's also SSH++.

now you do - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YVizsRCQcg

Cool, now you just have to reverse it.

3rd party client it is then.

Congrats, now it is up to you to restore standard, advertised features of your system. We are not windows helpline.
