Preformatted Text icon is inert in iOS Safari

I've noticed for a few weeks (but only mentioning now) that the Preformatted Text icon in the reply editor doesn't respond on iOS/iPadOS Safari 18.3. All the other buttons in the toolbar seem to respond fine, and of course the Preformatted Text works fine on other platforms.

Any recent Discourse updates that might explain this? Someone else mentioned the same behavior in the forum "web app" today, so I know I'm likely not crazy.

I have noticed the same thing, and like you I have been meaning to bring it up, but kept forgetting.

@thess - can you take a look?

Click on the Gear Icon, top option

type or paste code here -

The issue isn't a missing icon. It's showing up, but it's just not doing anything.

I think @RuralRoots may mean that if you click the gear icon and then hit the pre-formatted text icon, then that seems to work just fine.

But the main icon that’s displayed between the double quotes and smiley face for sure doesn’t work for me on my iPhone.

So for now the gear icon route is a workaround pending fix.

Separate issue, but I also notice that sometimes my text in the editor won’t post and I have to refresh the page to get it to post. I wonder if anyone else sees that too?

I raised this same issue a few years ago and it was a Discourse issue that @thess was able to resolve.

I think I fixed the button for touch devices (again). I rarely (almost never) access the forum from a phone/tablet so thanks for bringing this to my attention. Please test and let me know results.
