Pppoe keeps disconnecting

I have installed OpenWrt 19.07.3 on my TP-Link Archer C7 v2 and after setting up pppoe it keeps disconnecting.

If I have nothing connected to the internet it will stay connected for 45minutes without a problem but If I try to play a online game , Facebook , etc it will keep disconnecting.

Bellow is some info from the system log around the time it happen .
I only removed my mac address from the log and put (info removed) in the place of it .

Does anyone know why it keeps disconnecting and a solution to my problem ?

daemon.info pppd[3572]: No response to 5 echo-requests

This is a known bug/issue since LEDE 17.

Try changing the ‘LCP echo failure threshold’ value from default '0' to say a value of ‘5’ in LuCI.

config interface 'wan'
      option keepalive '5 5'

I changed it and it helped some but still disconnected . I then changed it from the 5 to 7 and there was no difference .

Have you tried a different router (not openwrt) to confirm you do not have an external broadband fault?

It works fine on DD-WRT using a build from late 2019. All the builds of DD-WRT from 2020 have broken WAN for me so I tried Gargoyle firmware out and found the pppoe issue there , I then tried OpenWrt to see if it was a issue with Gargoyle or the OpenWrt firmware they build it from and still had connection issues .

If I could fine out more info about DD-WRT pppoe I might be able to apply that info to OpenWrt settings .

I guess that there is a compatibility problem with the BRAS/BNG of your ISP and pppd (2.4.7?). You could try a current snapshot build with pppd 2.4.8 but i doubt that it will fix your problem. Anyway it's worth a try...

I install the snapshot from today on my Netgear WNDR3700 v2 and even used force link as well and could not hold the connection . The connection was able to handle a little more then yesterday before going down.
Besides from using pppd is there other software I could try for pppoe ?
Where do I find the info about the speed of the pppoe to make sure it is requesting the right speed ?

fwiw, try increasing the timeout ?

I recall 3 years ago when another LEDE 17 user was witnessing PPPoE disconnections and solved it with these settings

> option keepalive 100 30
>
> I may be mistaken, but above values would offer a 3,000 second (50 hours)
> timeout before router would forcibly disconnect PPP session.

Have you tried 19.07.2 or something older like 17.01.6 or 18.06.4 ?

I've been facing the same problem with an Archer C60 V1.

System log has the same

:36:06 2020 daemon.info pppd[3572]: Sent PADT

I read everything I could. I'm on the latest version of Openwrt.... So I went to tries and mistakes

1- I disabled all ipv6 - it kept disconnecting every now and then

2- I disabled all QSM OoS and the PPPoE connection is up for almost 3 days now.

Next week I'll restore the ipv6 back and keep observing.

For now, I'm concluding that my problem is associated wish QSM.
