Port repeatedly goes down and back up

hey I'm having problems with openwrt, my pc loses connection often, dhcp lease is fine

it doesn't happen in fixed intervals, but it fills the kernel log

I installed unbound, but it also happened before with dnsmasq

What happens when you plug your PC into another port?

Or when you use a different cable?

I will try and report back

same thing, tried a different port and a different cable

could be a bad NIC in the PC. Does the connection settings in the OS show the connection going Enabled/Disabled?

it shows it as disconnected and reconnected

Have you tried:

  • another port of the router?
  • another network cable?

If the first two troubleshooting tasks don't solve the issue, it could be the NIC.

did you read my reply?

Aaah, my apologies, it was only a few minutes before @davidc502.

  • If you manually set the interface speed to 100 Mbps, does it stay connected?
  • Is either cable tested longer than 100 meters?

it's 2m max, pc is right next to the router, I can try 100mbps

Try plugging into a dumb switch, does pc still say connected and disconnected? If so it's the nic or nic driver.
