PC with multiple ethernet ports

i would like to ask your proposal for a refurbished PC with 4 ethernet cards, in Europe please.
is it OK to get any PC? if yes which ethernet card? a bit lost there, which one is compatible?

One option:

Used Fujitsu Futro S920 with 415GA CPU - 30€ on eBay
PCIe riser - 10€
Quad port gigabit NIC - 15€ on eBay

As a person who started last year,

This one was recognized without issue.
Particularly useful for me when I decided to take advantage of any offloading and acceleration options I deemed necessary

A bit pricey?

Some components are worth kicking a little extra out for in a long-term especially if you're downloading information with it.

4port card does not kick into iot-grade space

Besides I already cheaped out with the computer lolz

renewed Dell 3040 SFF $99 when I purchased

I don't follow. Personally when I look for a Network part, I think about future proofing and longevity as well as feature-rich

With these retrofits you're already dangerously close to the prices for new alderlake-n 'firewall' mini PCs with four 2.5GBASE-T ports, at least if you order from abroad with the slow ship, during a sale. In other words, it probably makes more sense to buy a new N100/ N97 mini PC instead (especially with 24/7 power consumption and the assurance that the whole unit 'works' in mind).

You could have easily gotten away with an used AiO below the $50 mark, if the amount of ports was the only requirement.

Pretty sure most used quad port cards you can get on ebay would be "server grade"...

On aliexpress there is intel dual 10gig nic for 12 $ and works like a charm with s920.

dual <> quad.
based on the YT video I posted earlier, the S920 maxes out around 6.8Gbit (@6:20).

Yes two, more is pointless when there still will be switch , split with vlan and learn something new.

Ahh as it turns out that's one of the things I didn't buy used. I'm very picky when it comes to buying things off eBay some parts of the descriptions can often be more exaggerated than Amazon.

that's why you buy used server grade stuff, you know what you're getting

But what about abuse factor because usually server stuff have gone through a lot of abuse already right?

abuse ?

you mean usage ? yes, but it's server grade, so it's actually supposed to last for a while
most server grade hw isn't (re)sold because it's bad, but because the vendor dropped the support.

Personally I would trust Amazon before eBay when it comes to testing any second hand item
