Passing WAN traffic from a Client to AP on OpenWrt routers

Dear OpenWrt community,

I am trying to solve a problem for a unique use case. In my network as shown in the block diagram, I have 2 OpenWrt routers. One is configured in client mode and other in standard AP mode. Due to some use case restrictions, the WAN traffic must be passed by the Client mode OpenWrt router to the OpenWrt AP.

After consulting Chatgpt, I have tried several steps. but have not been able to get internet access to the Wi-Fi stations connected to OpenWrt AP.

Any help and pointers is very much appreciated.

The straightforward solution would be:
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/wifiextenders/wds
Much faster and stable if you can get cable between 2 APs.

Hello Brada4, thank you for the link. I tried WDS but in my setup the WAN connection is to the repeater and not the the AP.

I cannot get a cable between the routers.

You should have very low grade router to not be able to run ap and sta at once.
