OpenWrt x86 on a Dell inspiron 15 3567

Hello is it possible to make this dell laptop (inspiron 15 3567) a router?

pretty much any x86 built in the last 10+ years will work.

that the packages supporting your laptops wifi needs to be installed.

I found the package that I need but how can I install it if the device can't have internet because it needs the package

Use the same link as before, click the tiny arrow, and add the packages you need.

Request a build, and write the new image to disk/flash drive.

thank you so much, you're a legend

so I have another problem
in the GUI it says the device is not active and when I try to restart it it shows the same thing

What kind of wifi card is it ?

It’s an Intel dual band wireless-AC 3165

Intel wireless is not made for AP mode. Recently, very limited AP functionality has been added (as a side effect of the work on WiFi-direct/ p2p), but that only covers 2.4 GHz and may not be available on older chipsets (such as yours) at all. iw list should tell you about the details, but this card is unsuitable for this purpose either way.

You can only use it as client, not AP (at least for 5GHz)

I don’t want to use it for AP I just want to connect it a Wi-Fi and use a WiFi adapter as AP

Here comes the question: Do you mean another WiFi AP? Or install another WiFi card?
For client it should work, just press the "scan" and see if it can detect nearby WiFi.
