OpenWrt Porting Request for Archer C5v (VoIP)

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask the community for guidance on whether it's possible to create an OpenWrt firmware port for my router. I'm a complete beginner in this area, but I'm eager to learn and help with the process.

Router Details

  • Model: AC1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit VoIP Router
  • Model No.: Archer C5v
  • Manufacturer: TP-Link (branded by my ISP)
  • Note: This is an older router model.

Provided Information

I have access to the original ISP firmware file as well as the router's configuration file, conf.xml . I'm happy to provide these files if they would be useful for a developer. Since my contract with the ISP has ended, I am free to modify the router's firmware.

My Question

Can an OpenWrt firmware be created for this specific model, the Archer C5v? Are there any developers who might be interested in looking at the provided files to determine if a port is feasible? I am a beginner and don't have the tools for hardware modifications like a serial UART connection, so I'm hoping to avoid that. I'm also concerned about corrupting the device. Any advice, suggestions, or pointers to relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

If you're willing to spend the time, probably down the road ..

Also search for c5v here at the forum, for old threads about this device.

Looking at files won't magically do any development, someone with the hardware on their desk will have to do the development work, which is non-trivial. I guess this 'someone' will have to be either you - or no one, as you have the hardware and motivation, while this hardware won't be top of the list for anyone else to buy.

That is unavoidable for developing.

https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/TP-LINK_Archer_C_series suggests:
SOC: EcoNet EN7513GT
Flash: 128 MB NAND
RAM: 128 MB
switch: EcoNet EN7513GT
WLAN: MT7592N+MT7612EN

OpenWrt currently has no SOC support for EcoNet, at all. While there has been some interest in EcoNet recently, this is nowhere close to getting merged, yet. While I wouldn't go quite as far as calling it impossible, the required development would be long (months++) and windy, given your own self-characterization not very likely to succeed.

Do yourself a favour, look for an alternative that is fully supported right now™, don't bet on the future, that can only fail. There are quite a few option, better hardware, sometimes rather cheap - and the various local second hand markets may also offer quite a few opportunities.
