OpenWRT One Issue (Please Help)

I am new to OpenWRT and have never used the OS before.

So, my OpenWRT router arrived, but unfortunately, I’ve already bricked it.

I attempted to update the firmware on the NAND flash, but the router didn’t reboot or shut down. Consequently, I closed the window and couldn’t re-enter the local IP address. It kept displaying an error message stating that it couldn’t connect.

Next, I attempted to reinstall the firmware using a USB drive while in NOR mode.

  • Format the USB drive as FAT32.
  • Download and copy the following files to the root directory of the USB drive:
    openwrt-mediatek-filogic-openwrt_one-snand-preloader. bin
    openwrt-mediatek-filogic-openwrt_one-factory. ubi

Tthe USB drive kept flashing orange and didn’t turn green. It’s been 12 minutes, and the USB remains stuck.

I can ssh into the router but when I try to install LuCi it tries to access the internet and I do not have a WAN connection. Is there a way I can install LuCi without it and also what really happened to me router and did the NOR flash or not?

Please help me

Flash it again using the sysupgrade image from https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=24.10.4.

Generic sysupgrade guide for ssh/serial: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/installation/generic.sysupgrade#command-line_instructions.
You can SCP the image over to the router, if it doesn't have internet access.

The latest factory flash image for 24.10.rc2 was faulty and I suspect this is your initial issue. You can verify by issuing ubus call system board and reading the return.

Follow @frolic ‘s advice using the Firmware Selector via ssh or you could also load the initramfs mode on the OO that should have the GUI installed, and upgrade to the most current sysupgrade Release.

Access ram boot by:

  • pull power
  • Press and hold front panel button
  • Allow leds to cycle through the three leds and then release button.
  • LEDs should show white flashing (loading), then green. If red led flashes, repeat the cycle again.
  • access GUI via 192.168.1.1
