So I love the OpenWrt One thus far. However, I lost access to the root account thanks to my password keeper database corrupting. I tried following the failsafe procedure in documentation, but I'm not able to ping the device at 192.168.1.1. Here's what I've done so far:
- Rebooted the One and pressed the reset button once the white LED starts its quick blinks
- Waited for the orange LED to start rapidly blinking
- Made sure my computer had a static address set at 192.168.1.2 (and some others up to 192.168.1.254), subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1 (and I tried it also without defining a gateway). For good measure, I left DNS server blank, set it to 1.1.1.1, and set it to 192.168.1.1. I know DNS should not be the issue here, but sometimes you have to throw spaghetti at the wall.
- Tried pinging other plausible addresses in the 192.168.1.0/24 range, in case a different gateway was set.
- I tried SSH'ing to the address anyway, to no avail
- Tried the above with two different Linux boxes, Linux Mint Live USB, and a Windows 11 machine
- Tried the above on both the WAN and LAN ports
Also, during a reboot attempt, I ran tcpdump to see if I could pickup the "press button" announcement, but nothing.
So, I'm not sure if there's something specific to the One I am missing here, but it's acting like it's on a different network other than 192.168.1.0/24. Has anyone encountered this before or have any thoughts on what I can try next? I'm not opposed to necessarily factory resetting it, but I'd like to leave that as a last option.
Thanks in advance!
