Hello,
I have an old Sony Vaio laptop (around 10-yr old model pcg-7181m, Intel Core 2 Duo) and want to setup Openwrt on it to use as my temporary travel router.
I downloaded openwrt-21.02.2-x86-64-generic-ext4-combined.img and wrote it to a USB flash drive.
(I assume I picked the correct image for the job).
When I boot with usb, there is no eth0 or wlan0 interfaces:
$ uci show network
network.loopback=interface
network.loopback.device='lo'
network.loopback.proto='static'
network.loopback.ipaddr='127.0.0.1'
network.loopback.netmask='255.0.0.0'
network.globals=globals
network.globals.ula_prefix='fd2b:a4e6:29b1::/48'
network.@device[0]=device
network.@device[0].name='br-lan'
network.@device[0].type='bridge'
network.@device[0].ports='eth0'
network.lan=interface
network.lan.device='br-lan'
network.lan.proto='static'
network.lan.ipaddr='192.168.1.1'
network.lan.netmask='255.255.255.0'
network.lan.ip6assign='60'
I had to use an ubuntu live image to run the following to find the chipsets:
$ lsmod

So I downloaded this package
https://archive.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.1/targets/x86/64/kmods/5.4.154-1-b70ee1516753f10c063dd361f74167d4/kmod-skge_5.4.154-1_x86_64.ipk
(hope I picked the correct one), put it into root home folder and ran opkg install. Still no eth0 interface.
Am I doing something wrong? Any help appreciated
