There is no rtl8197dn (lexra) SOC support in OpenWrt, has never been - not very likely to be added in the future. Beyond the fundamental issues of (upstream!) toolchain support for lexra and SOC support in OpenWrt, 8/64 is below minimum system requirements going forward, so even hypothetical chances of merging support in the future are very, very low (and foremost depend on upstream support for lexra in gcc, binutils, musl, kernel).
What you're looking at is a vendor SDK, maybe a little hacked up, but it's a dead end in in terms of potential OpenWrt support - and anything 14.07 based even more so.
Is it totally impossible, no (for devices with more flash/ RAM).
…but given the pecularities around lexra, and considering that even Realtek has moved away from lexra to full MIPS (and ARM) in their contemporary SOCs, chances are extremely minimal (realistically non-existent).
I'm gonna try to do something. I know the author who made this firmware and the original author. I have source code. Some people are ready to help me. I'm busy rn. I like this firmware more than original one. OpenWRT has SSH, which is good.
I want to create minimal 24.0.0 Version with LuCi and without LuCi.
So it would be minimal open-source mainteined firmware.
As I remember, u can contact D-Link to get source code of their firmware.
I want to utilize 100% of hardware. AKA Second USB(second USB led),better contact for antennas, UART port and JTAG.
Can you change status for E1, G1, G1a?
E2 might also be supported.
