OpenWrt 86x obstacles

Sorry, misunderstood

Might be nice if the EAP225 was supported.

Being a ath9k/ath10k radio device it would benefit from the make_wifi_fast code that the bufferbloat guys have been developing next. The AQM/L code for ath9k has been in OpenWRT for a while, and finally the code for ath10k just hit the snapshots a short time ago. Cutting edge stuff, not available anywhere else...

I thought these were broadcom devices.

Sorry for the threadjacking. Was looking into that last night on smallnetbuilder.com.
I think the earlier version might have been, but it seems the v3 has the same QCA core chip as later (V4, V5?) Archer C7's, and a slightly newer QCA 5ghz radio chip. The article's testing showed that the v3 got even better performance than the v2, which was thought of as one of the best and cheaper AP's they tested at the time.

So, a ath9k/10k chipset, maybe a easy job to get it supported... and an already stellar performing AP gets the next new features. :+1:

The EAP225 v3 (wavy front panel) and Outdoor have QCA9886 chip while the now discontinued v1 (smooth front with square light ring) has QCA9882. These chips are quite different as the 9886 has "Wave 2" functionality.
