Hi,
We are migrating our product to Linux kernel 6.6 and OpenWRT 24.10 . Currently, our firewall-related functionalities are based on firewall3 (fw3) .
In OpenWRT 24.10, is it mandatory to use firewall4 (fw4) , or is it still possible to use firewall3 (fw3) ?
If fw3 is still usable , are there any known limitations, compatibility issues, or required modifications?
Thank you.

Yes, but owut will replace it with firewall4.
I can assist converting iptables ruless to nftables if that is holding you back.
Thanks for your feedback
May I know , w/o converting to nftables rules , can I enable fw3 package and use existing iptables rules in openWRT 24.10?

Yes, you can use iptables rules.
Just that cloud upgrades will substitute fw3 to fw4, you have to sysupgrade to images via firmware-selector or local builder, not attended/owut/auc upgrades.
By large no change since v22
