NuCom R5000UNv1 ADSL Router [Data & Specifications]

I know it's almost the same device as the R5010UNv2, but here in Chile, NuCom has made other versions of the same router, as the R5000UNv2, which i don't know it's specs, but i'm sure it has similar hardware.

Hardware Specs:

SoC: BCM6328
CPU: Broadcom BMIPS4350 @ 320MHz
Board: 96328ang default in black case model, can vary from device with other colors.
RAM: 64MB
Flash: 16MB
Bootloader: CFE version 1.0.37-106.24
Serial: Yes.
JTAG: I don't know, i didn't see any pads or connections while i had it open.
WLAN: Broadcom BCM43225 2-non detachable antennas, 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz, in the driver, it only operates on b/g mode.
xDSL / ADSL: Yes, not tested. Problems with LEDE not supporting xDSL.
Ethernet: 4 Ports, no WAN port.
USB: Yes, 1x USB 2.0
CFE recovery/update flash web server: Yes, it can be activated. See below for details.

CFE recovery/reset:

  1. Shut down the router.
  2. In the back, you should see the ports and a small hole, which it says "Reset", put something small inside, like a paperclip.
  3. While holding and pressing the item, turn on the router. It should pass from red to green in a matter of seconds.
  4. Put your network card or interface, in static address. (IP: 192.168.1.***[20, 50, 43, etc], Mask: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 192.168.1.1)
  5. Now, it should appear the update system screen in the browser.

Got my custom firmware running on it, it didn't have the problems, like connectivity and low speeds, like it did before, after the flash.

PS: It's another BCM63xx based board, so porting various utilities from other routers in the same target category should be somewhat easy.

If some developer finds this useful, don't hesitate to make something around it.
Sorry for the bad english, it's not my main language.

I have the same device. Unfortunately it's operating as an ADSL modem, which isn't supported on OpenWRT, so I can't help you test it.

Will you be trying to upstream support for the device? I think that will be interesting

Some time ago, i saw a post in OpenWRT forums, giving away the source code for the DSL driver used in some Netgear device...

I can't remember if that file is still going around or the DSL drivers are GPL now and running already in LEDE, some information is still outdated.

I got 2 devices so i can test in one, the other is functioning as normal router.

It has a little of support, because of the R5010UNv2 which is based on the same SoC, but it has wrong settings to flash in a R5000UNv1 or a R5000UNv2. It's interesting and semi-powerful for its class, i must say, but the problems with the stock firmware make it so damn hated.

Movistar back then had crappy routers to work with, it still does.

And yes, i will try to support this little beast, it is good for a entry class ADSL router.

...which will never have a working DSL modem under OpenWrt.
Just to stress that one more time.
