Ntfs partition not accessible in read-write mode after booting, only after manual command

I've the following line in /etc/rc.local:

ntfs-3g /dev/sdb /mnt/usb3 -o rw,lazytime,noatime,big_writes

Unfortunately, after booting the router the partition is accessible in read-only mode.
When I umount it and redo the ntfs-3g command, it becomes writable.
How can I make it working on booting without having to do the command manually?
Thank you.

What does the dmesg log say about the partition during boot?
I’d assume it’s seeing it as dirty and mounting read only to avoid corruption.

What does the System > Mount Points menu show on the web GUI?

The GUI doesn't show the mode but in the terminal the command mount retruns:

/dev/sdb on /mnt/usb3 type ntfs (ro,relatime,uid=0,gid=0,fmask=0177,dmask=077,nls=iso8859-1,errors=continue,mft_zone_multiplier=1)

So', the disk is mounted in read-only mode. I have to understand why.

Yes, you're right, it is mounted in read-only mode. Where do I find the dmesg log?

From the shell type

dmesg

I don't know if here below I list all the relevant lines:

It seems to me that logread provides the same info of dmesg:

[ 56.744882] EXT4-fs (dm-0): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)

Which ntfs kmods do you have installed? I can see both the ntfs kernel module and fuse being loaded.

Only the fuse module has read write support by default.

Also, your mount syntax is wrong - you need to be specifying the partition, not the whole drive (eg; \dev\sdb1). I suspect the command in rc.local isn't doing anything and there is actually something setup in /etc/fstab

Oh and ntfs support shouldn't be relied upon - while you may find it works ok this is not a linux native filesystem and could get corrupted by writes. NTFS is closed source and the fuse support is reverse engineered.

I get the /dev/sd? object to mount from block info. When I replace /dev/sdb with /dev/sdb1, the command ntfs-3g fails:

# ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb3 -o rw,lazytime,noatime,big_writes
ntfs-3g: Failed to access volume '/dev/sdb1': No such file or directory

ntfs-3g 2021.8.22 integrated FUSE 27 - Third Generation NTFS Driver
Configuration type 1, XATTRS are on, POSIX ACLS are off

Subsequent lines answer your first question.

Moreover, the command has always worked, until today.

I think that the pendrive becomes corrupted, because I tried to replace it with another one and the mounting works as expected in read-write mode.

Try running

ntfsfix /dev/sdb

If you have a Windows machine, you could also run chkdsk against the drive to fix any NTFS errors.

Your command output doesn't make sense. You're asking ntfs-3g to mount /dev/sdb1 and get an error about /dev/sdc1? That's not possible.

And if other drives work then yes you can assume the problem is with this drive.

just install antfs-mount
opkg install antfs-mount

Thanks to all. The pendrive continues to be accessible in read-only mode, but I've verified that other pendrives work well, so I don't waste your time and time with it. I will replace it.

Because after inserting another pendrive devs order has changed, and I copied the line command and its output from two different points in time. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I've corrected the text of my previous post.
