Dear @Baloo27,
sadly I do have any clue what else to do.
Well we shouldn't give up, right?
... hmmm ....
If you have the chance to return it to the seller to get it exchanged, then return it in case it has gone defective without any interaction of yours as you have stated.
@Baloo27 do you have any USB UART/TTL adapter around?
If you do have, you can see why and where the process stuck, just like my case here: New Xiaomi Router AC2100 - #966 by abdulaziz.amar
(And the solution is found here: New Xiaomi Router AC2100 - #973 by abdulaziz.amar)
@ abdulaziz.amar
No, but i order one. Any prefered type?
As salamu alaykum @abdulaziz.amar
if I got you right, then the USB UART/TTL is only for checking the reason why the process got stuck.
But not for flashing the bootloader, right?
How did you flash the bootloader?
If I understood @Baloo27 right, then he does not have telnet or ssh access to his router.
@Baloo27 Any type will do, but I suggest CH341, because it got additional flasher mode (for SPI flash, but you can't use this mode for AC2100, because it uses NAND instead)
Wa alaykum salam,@minax007, I think the bootloader is still there, because the LED is still flashing differently. But there is something wrong in the process. I suspect either:
- He incidentally changed the bootloader for another router (like my case), so the recovery mode rejected his firmware
- He got Toshiba NAND flash, which has bad block issue
- The firmware he tried to flash is corrupted (maybe when he downloaded it, or some kind of malware did it)
Especially when I saw the rapid blinking in your google drive, @Baloo27, I suspect that wrong bootloader is installed.
Like my case here: https://youtu.be/J9Ab0-UsK_8
If it is indeed the case, then, you can try installing redmi ac2100 firmware with Mi WiFi Repair Tool, and see if it will flash successfully.
Dear @abdulaziz.amar,@minax007
When i flash the rm2100 bin file with repair tool, i got this:
- the system led blinking switch to the the internet led with fast orange blinking
- when i reboot, i got the same situation orange led, blinking orange led
Well, I suggest look into the terminal output with an UART/TTL adapter, so we can better guess what causes the error.
Ok, i search the CH341 adapter, but didn't found in Hungary.
I found 3 version:
- FT232RL
- PL2303HX
- CH340G
Either one is fine.
Also buy some jumper/dupont wire too.
If you're can solder, buy female to female and some header. If not, female to male version can do it (albeit the connection will not as stable as female to female + header soldered to your router).
I am running @scp07 standard firmware 19.07.5 for the redmi AC2100 - and find that the wifi is generally slower altogether, with 5G I was only able to iperf ~ 300Mbps
Is this known or just my setup?
I have same perfs on 5 GHz - same build (around 350 Mbs in AP mode: Wifi to LAN iperf test).
I have not tested other firmware so I cannot compare.
Please ignore my post - it looks like the bottleneck was my phone, when I setup the test between the laptop and desktop via AC2100 I was able to get a lot higher 800Mbps on 5G
Hi, scp07 firmware is stable? Can I use it for redmi ac2100 without issues? Which are the differences from official firmware?
Thanks!
Hi! I'm running OpenWrt 19.07.5 r11208-ce6496d796 r11257-5090152ae3. The experience is mostly good, the clients are fine with good speed. However, I tried to connect other APs, the RX speed of the other device is 6Mbps 20MHz only. I tried an ath79 (Also OpenWrt) and a Broadcom something with ddwrt. Both runs with this low speed, but only in one direction. Do anybody has the same experience?
Also, with 'dmesg' I see some error in the booting process:
[ 34.168246] ------------[ cut here ]------------
[ 34.172902] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 2008 at backports-4.19.137-1/net/mac80211/ie

....
and further call traces to [mac80211@86980000+0x6cca0 and [cfg80211@87180000+0x36c20]]
Could it be related?
Hi guys
First of all im newbie on openwrt so im sorry if my questions are simple
Im looking for a load balancing router / ap and from what i understand , i can use load balancing with openwrt.
I can find xiaomi mi router 4a giga for like 25$ here ( and it seems i can install openwrt on it without any problem ) but this router only has 3 eth ! And its kind of old device so i tried to find a redmi ac2100 ( white one ) ... I can find it here for like 50-60$ , my only concern is that its stable with openwrt and i can use it as load balancer without any problem
Anyone tried this feature ? Any suggestions ? Thanks
Yeah, you can load-balance on redmi ac2100 using mwan3 (and luci-app-mwan3 if you want the web interface). I'm currently load-balancing two WISP connection using mine.
Both are using the same mt7621 platform, so a dualcore 880 MHz cpu. The main difference is with flash memory (16 vs 128 MB) and with another wireless chip for 5 GHz (MT7612EN (2x2) versus MT7615N (4x4)).
So in my opinion it depends on your client devices and most of them are 2x2 devices.
Just my 2 cts
Dear @abdulaziz.amar
Would you tell it to me how to connect the usb serial adapter to the router motherboard? RX to RX, TX to TX and GND to GND? And after? Can i use Putty or what?
thank you for the help
Router RX to adapter TX
Router TX to adapter RX
Router GND to adapter GND
You can use PuTTY, choose serial mode, 115200 baud rate.
