New install on D-Link DIR-2660

I am new to this forum. I have an old D-link DIR-2660 router. The D-link software affords little to change the setup. Have a few questions:

  1. Would like to reconfigure the router as a wireless bridge to replace an older DAP-1525. Will I be able to do this after installing OpenWrt? Should I be able to connect wirelessly, as well as with an ethernet connection?

  2. Assuming the answer to the first question is ‘yes’, I have already downloaded:
    a. openwrt-24.10.2-ramips-mt7621-dlink_dir-2660-a1-initramfs-kernel.bin
    b. openwrt-24.10.2-ramips-mt7621-dlink_dir-2660-a1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
    c. openwrt-24.10.2-ramips-mt7621-dlink_dir-2660-a1-squashfs-recovery.bin

What is the procedure to install and upgrade the software? Are these files all I need?

I look forward to your help!

  1. Yes, but perhaps not simultaneously, if you mean uplinks ?

Make sure you've got the A1 version, check the bottom sticker.

I have the A1 version. Another question. I cannot find a 'factory' install file. Can someone explain what is the file I should install after I first inititiate the D-link recovery interface?

Then I guess it's the sysupgrade.
