Earlier today I was gifted a Netgear Nighthawk R6700 V2.
The Wiki is boiler plate and no content of substance has been added for almost 2 years. There are no positive posts regarding install or operation ..... until now.
Today I installed OpenWRT 23.05.0 using the factory image with no apparent issues. The Netgear GUI complained about the OpenWRT Factory image being older (V1.1.0.32) than the installed Netgear Firmware (V1.2.0.16_1.0.1). After install a second message regarding a page not found was dispalyed (not surprised).
After a bit I refreshed the browser and was greeted with the OpenWRT login. I set password and enbled wireless. I rebooted and power cylced just cause. I then connected via wireless bridge to my LAN and speed tested my phone at 197/18 over 5Ghz (wireless and bridge) which is basically the cap on my service.
I then updated to 23.05.2, retaining my thin config and repeated the above tests.
I do not intend this to be my primary router so probably will not have much more to report, but it's available for some limited testing ATM.
