Multiple SSID and vLan in a Linksys WRT1900ACS

Hi guys,

I am new to OpenWrt, never used it so not sure about the features.

Basically, I need a router that can do multiple SSIDs, about 4, and vlans on each of those SSIDs. 1 vLan for data traffic, 1 vlan for smart home devices, one vlan for streaming and 1 vlan for guest.

All that plus, port forwarding, vpn, etc.

I am looking at getting a Linksys WRT1900ACS and flahs it with with OpenWrt v1 (shelby), v2 (shelby).

Would I be able to do that with that hardware and OpenWrt OS combination?

Also, Would I be able to keep the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands?

Cheers.

Gus

On one hand, yes you can do all that with that hardware. I have a similar device and setup.

On the other hand, the wireless drivers for that device have some unresolved issues, and development is completely stalled.

Gracias.

I did realized that after searching this router model in the forum.

For what I saw, 95% of the issues in the forum on this model are for the WiFi, which if it does not work, it defeats the purpose of having SSIDs and vlan.

Cheers.
