Hi, am struggling to get a Mikrotik 'LDF 5 ac' to work, hardware-wise very similar to this thread's SXTsq5ac.
Also only 2x2 MiMo 5 GHz and an ipq4018.
Two problems:
the ath10k-ct drivers give extremely bad reception; no sensitivity. Something does not get set properly.
One looses up to 18 dB on reception! Cure: use the regular ath10k, it brings the sensitivity to the level of the original firmware; the 256 MB RAM should be enough. Why writing this? The second problem for which I have not found any fix yet:
Coverage class setting is impossible in ath10k y/n ct. It is set at 0 and neither the config/wireless distance setting, nor 'iw phy phy0 set coverage' work. Hence the device is completly useless for links over many kilometers, as is the idea with the LDF, a feed for in a parabolic dish. The 802.11 protocol collapses with wrong timings. Could somebody please check setting 'coverage class' in a SXTsq5ac; does it work there?
Have some Ubiquiti Litebeam devices that apply ath10k-ct-smallbuffers. There it works fine, sensitivity and coverage class / distance.
Any suggestions welcome! Tnx
FYI - OpenWrt 21.02.0 support for MikroTik SXTsq 5 ac is available now.
