Mesh with Reyee + OpenWrt

I like OpenWRT but can I still use the Wifi 6 MESH functionality when I switch the Reyee firmware to OpenWRT?

Thanks, Tom

No, that would be specific to the Reyee OEM firmware (and likely has very little in common with what we would call 'mesh', as in 802.11s).

Thanks - so can Openwrt be used to weave together several routers, e.g. E5s?

OpenWrt, if running on all participating APs, can do (either-or):

You are at the helm, which fits your requirements best is a policy decision.

reyee / ruijie products use mediateks commercial sdk implementation of EasyMesh, which is not supported in OpenWRT, however as the previous post mentions you can use 80211S and batman-adv, or babel. they work fine and are compatible with all other 80211S implementations. where EasyMesh is not as all vendors claim, they have made it somewhat proprietary to their specific implementation so its not so "easy" anymore. definitely 80211S is the way to go. your only other option is to further port the device to prplos, which is based on openwrt and has easymesh though their code base is questionable. no quite sure why the previous post mentions WDS though it is not mesh, it is simply a range extender.
