Welcome to the OpenWrt forums.

I ended up installing LuCI with HTTPS support (mbedTLS as SSL backend)

  • libustream-mbedtls
  • px5g-mbedtls

It works flawlessly in Firefox, Chrome and Opera mobile web browsers and used it ever since.
