Hi I want to buy a quadport pci express card. I only find 2 option at a good price.
Can you give me your opnions? both cost almost the same, they are not cheap but if they are good, I'll pay for it. Hp 331t Quad Port
I'm not saying they're not reasonable, I'm just saying they're expensive for me. I can pay for them, but I don't want to pay for something that doesn't work properly.
Went that way, ti's pointless to have multigig nig nic in router since after all You need switch or access point for wifi, put one port nic and some nice managed siwtch, or stay on one port hw and do vlan, on some nice openwrt router with 4-5 ports you can also split vlans to ports. Less heat and power consumption on firewall/router.
I'm sorry I don't undestant you last message, I'm not and english speaker. Yo ask me what speed do i want to have? Everything in my network is 1g so I won't have more than that. I don know what is a router on a stick? And finally I don't know what is untag vlan and what it does.
As I have already opened this topic which pci express card ships are best, the one. The one I'm using and it's giving me problems is a broadcom, I can't remember the model.
Edit: in fact, the cheapest one I can find are the Tp-link Gigabit Tx-201 2.5 Gbps
I cannot confirm this, i my case the card is cooled by small fan and isn't hotz i have it in my Fujitsu futro s920 and it runs very nice with openwrt. This is server card with cuted additional x1 port .
Last question I promise, I found 2 card with the low profile bracket, the HP 332T NetXtreme Broadcom 5720 Dual Port with a Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5720 chipset and a HP NC360T DUAL PORT GIGABIT ETHERNET PCIe x4 with Intel 82571EB processor. These are the cheapest card I can found in my country. At this point, buying outside is not recommended for me. So any opinions?
