Looking for a serveless, multicast PTT application

Hey everyone, I need your help in finding an app, in case already existent, for openwrt that gives you the ability to send live voice tansmissions in multicast over a local network, without being server dependent. The idea is to install such an application on a router, fitted with a sound card, and use it as a type of walkie talkie.

I'm already aware of solutions such as using asterisk or mumble servers, however I really need my system to be serverless meaning each user can individually and autarkic transmit voice packets to everyone else in the network even if one specific user drops out.

In case you know of such an application / package available in openwrt or one that can be compiled into openwrt I would greatly appreciate your help!

not sure what you try to achieve exactly, but

  1. SIP can work in serverless mode between two endpoints directly,
  2. you describe paging if i am correct, which is usually one way: one source to many targets. but paging relies on some kind of register service which knows the whereabouts of endpoints.

i am not aware of such solution personally, sorry if i cannot help with particular name but it is highly possible there is no such app (kind of self organozing mesh voip solution). but maybe others can chip in with the right tool for you.

paging sounds more like unicast one user to everyone. But in my intention everyone within the same channel should be able to transmit to everyone else. Actually going to change my question description a little bit and utilitze the term walkie talkie rather than unicom.

Thanks you for your input
